Dues Increase
By Heather Dunn | December 1st, 2011
Good morning,
I hope you are doing well!
I wanted to take a few minutes to remind you that SPJ’s national dues will increase on January 1, 2012. The increase was approved by the SPJ board of directors on Sept. 25, 2011.
National headquarters has provided members with information on the dues increase, but we appreciate your help in making sure all communications your chapter may send out are current. We are asking that you take the time to update the places your chapter may list the membership dues. This could be on your chapter web site, membership applications your chapter has created, chapter newsletters or in general communication with your members. Also, if you have any outdated SPJ membership brochures on hand, please dispose of those before the increase.
Here is a list of the new fee structure:
— Pro Members: $3 (up to $75)
— Retired: $1.50 (up to $37.50)
— Household: $1.50 (up to $37.50)
— Post-Graduate: $1.50 (up to $37.50)
— Student: $1.50 (up to $37.50)
— Associate: $4 (up to $94)
If any of your members contact you with questions about the increase, please feel free to direct them to http://www.spj.org/news.asp?REF=1081. That short Q&A may answer many of their questions about why the increase was put in place and what authority the board had to do so. As always, they can contact the headquarters staff with any additional questions. We’re happy to help!
Happy Holidays,
